Jesus’ Shocking Response to Sin

Yet when Jesus interacted with serious sinners – some of whom were also serial sinners – his posture was always one of gentleness and encouragement.  He called sin what it is and never excused it, yet at the same time he never crushed anyone with the truth or rubbed their nose in their failure.  He had plenty of abrasive and caustic words for the self-righteous Pharisees, but the broken repeat offender found a gentle and forgiving welcome in him.
