Salvation Belongs to the Lord

A century and a half ago, Charles Spurgeon use a sermon to explore the fullness of this declaration from Jonah (Jonah 2:8-9)  Salvation is “entirely of God,” Spurgeon explained at length; it is God-sourced in its planning, in its execution and in its application;  it’s also from God in how it’s sustained in the human heart, and in how it’s ultimately perfected in our eternal state.  Salvation belongs to the Lord.

We’ll Never Get Better, We’ll Only Get Bitter

Until we see God-sent storms as interventions and not punishments, we’ll never get better; we’ll only get bitter.  Some difficult circumstances you’re facing right now may well be a God-sent storm of mercy intended to be his intervention in your life.  You’re in danger, and either you don’t realize it or you’re in denial.
